This illustration was my contribution to the Flock Off, School’s Out exhibition, which celebrated the Comm. Design graduating class of 2022. We were tasked with creating an artwork of a bird or a fish, by any method or style, to represent ourselves. The theme, Flock Off, symbolised students leaving the flock (and the school) and venturing off into new opportunities and careers.

The finished artworks were displayed in public on the Franklin Street Metro Tunnel Wall, off Bowen Street in Melbourne’s city, and on a dedicated website.

My artwork was inspired by the blue-footed booby birds that I saw when I travelled to the Galápagos Islands back in 2017. An earlier draft of the artwork features their distinctive blue feet more prominently, however, I ultimately changed ideas as I wanted to show more character.
